Course Description

WINTER SEASON 2027 5-8 y/o | Thursdays 15:15-16:15 (60min) From Winter Dreams to Spring Awakening As winter slowly gives way to spring, young artists are invited on a creative journey through the changing seasons. Together, we will explore the quiet magic of winter, the first signs of new growth, and the colorful awakening of nature all around us. Through drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, and playful mixed-media projects, children will discover how artists observe both the world around them and the feelings within them. Our Three Pillars: 💛 Building Confidence Each class begins with a creative sketchbook exercise designed to help children connect with their imagination and artistic voice. Using Art Lab Amsterdam's signature Inside-Out drawing technique, children will explore emotions, colors, memories, and seasonal feelings through simple mindfulness and visualization exercises. Every child receives their own A4 sketchbook to fill with drawings, discoveries, and creative experiments throughout the season. 🌈 Fostering Empathy Through group art games, reflection circles, and positive sharing moments, children learn to appreciate one another’s unique ideas and perspectives. We encourage children to express themselves freely while developing kindness, confidence, and respect for others. 🌿 Celebrating Nature & Creativity Inspired by winter landscapes, nocturnal animals, emerging flowers, spring rain, and returning sunlight, children will experience the wonder of seasonal change through art. This season also includes a special recycling and textile project, where children transform colorful fabrics and reused materials into imaginative works of art, learning how creativity can give new life to everyday objects. Gentle music, storytelling, and moments of mindful observation create a calm and inspiring atmosphere where children can develop both artistic skills and emotional awareness. At mid-season we celebrate our progress together, and parents are invited to join our final class for a special collaborative artwork. Every child receives a small creative gift to celebrate their artistic journey. Classes are taught in Dutch (and English when necessary) Thursdays at Factor IJ Pampuslaan 11, IJburg Amsterdam 14 January- 15 April 13 classes total No Class 25 February during school vacation €226 (€17 x 13 classes incl. all materials and snack) plus €5 administrative fee. *Stadspas possible in contact with Jeugdfonds.
