Course Description

WINTER SEASON 2025 8-13 y/o |Wednesdays 16:30-18:00 (90min) Join Art Lab Amsterdam’s Winter–Spring Art Session: From Light to Growth! 🌱 As the days grow lighter, we’ll explore how shadow meets brightness and how creativity awakens just like spring itself. This new season at Art Lab Amsterdam invites children to discover confidence, empathy, and wonder through projects inspired by nature’s changing light and the human form in motion. Children will experiment with drawing, painting, collage, and 3D art — exploring light, shadow, and perspective. Our older students will dive into the study of the human figure in 3D space and take part in our Light Lab, where they’ll create artworks that play with shadow and movement. Our Three Pillars: Building Confidence: Every class begins with a mindful sketchbook warm-up that helps children tune into their inner world and express themselves freely. Each child receives an A3 sketchbook for their artistic journey — a space to grow and reflect week by week. Fostering Empathy: Through group art games and positive sharing moments, children learn to appreciate one another’s unique ideas and express kindness through creativity. Exploring Feelings & Self-Expression: Art at Art Lab is also about looking inside. Through simple mindfulness techniques and reflection moments, children practice pausing and reflecting on how they feel. We will translate those feelings into color, shape, and movement. We’ll look at inspiring examples of artists from around the world who express their emotions in different ways — through paint, collage, sculpture, and more. This helps children understand that art can be a language of the heart. At mid-term, we pause to reflect and celebrate progress. In the final class parents are invited to class and create together. Each child will receive a special creative gift to mark their growth. Taught in Dutch and English when needed.
