Course Description

Begin the new school year in Arts Education at Art Lab Amsterdam! This fall, children are invited into a new season of creativity, artistic skill-building, and self-expression at Art Lab Amsterdam. Art Lab offers a year-long visual arts education program created by professional artist and educator Julia Mandle. More than a typical “knutselclub,” Art Lab introduces children to real artistic techniques, inspiring artists, and meaningful creative exploration in a warm and welcoming environment. Students develop observation skills, confidence, artistic technique, and imagination through drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, sketchbook practice, mindfulness, and art history inspiration. This Fall Season We Will Explore: - Autumn-inspired drawing and painting - Sketchbook experimentation - Observational drawing and perspective - The human face, expression, and portrait studies - Halloween face-painting and transformation art - “Inside Out” meditation-based abstract art exercises - Classical and contemporary artists - A guest workshop combining art, science, and technology Older children will focus especially on portrait drawing, facial proportions, and emotional expression through playful and engaging projects. Each child receives a professional sketchbook for use throughout the season, as well as a special creative gift during the final class to encourage their creativity to continue blossoming at home. Families may also reserve a place for the Winter/Spring season to ensure continuity.
